Caries treatment and artistic composite restorations

What is our advantage in caries treatment?

At Da Vinci Dental Clinic, we focus on early detection and targeted treatment of caries with maximum preservation of healthy tooth tissues because they are invaluable!

At Da Vinci Dental Clinic, we focus on early detection and targeted treatment of caries with maximum preservation of healthy tooth tissues because they are invaluable! We pay special attention to diagnostics, to make sure we don’t miss any hidden interdental caries, which can asymptomatically (i.e., without any sensations) destroy your, at first glance, "healthy" tooth. We use CT diagnostics, which is always available at our clinic for free!During the dental caries treatment, we adhere to tooth-preserving techniques: we remove only tissues altered by caries. To detect all the affected tooth tissues, we use special caries markers that help to remove the entire pathological process, without giving bacteria any chance to destroy our vital organ!

How does dental caries treatment take place?

Rubber dams are always used during caries treatment. Reliable tooth insulation allows to achieve perfect adhesion of the photopolymer to the tooth, which prevents secondary caries. Then we carefully polish and bring to shine not only the restoration, but also the tooth itself, because bacteria has much harder time attaching to polished tissue!

Nature’s design – best design! Therefore, treating caries, including interdental, we restore the anatomy of the tooth with photocomposite material, including its structure and depths, which have multifunctional and aesthetic value for the ideal functioning of the masticatory system.

And photocomposite is a very plastic material, which when affected by light (ultraviolet) becomes hard and strong, able to perform the role of hard tissues of the tooth! The doctor works with it as a sculptor, restoring aesthetics, proper anatomy and, consequently, tooth function.

Why is artistic restoration so important after dental caries treatment?

For a perfect imitation of enamel and dentin, there are composites of different transparency and shades, of different strength and fullness. Thus, some composites create super strength, which is important for the restoration of the masticatory group of teeth, others give super shine and transparency, which is important when restoring the front group of teeth! Great competition in the market of photopolymer materials creates a race to win the market. Every year photopolymers get better and better! We choose the best manufacturers from Europe, USA and Japan. They all have impeccable reputation, as evidenced by reliable restorations.

Performing caries treatment or artistic teeth restoration with photocomposite (tooth augmentation), in contrast to using ceramics, the restoration is completed in one sitting and does not require additional stages and multiple visits.

Photocomposite is indispensable for restoration of small defects and chips, as it does not require to remove a large amount of the healthy tooth tissues.

Despite the strength of composite materials and their availability, big dental restorations (with a volume of more than 40% of teeth restored) do not retain their functionality for a long time, changing their shape and adherence to healthy tooth tissues. In such cases, we recommend photopolymer tooth restoration as a temporary stage of treatment before ceramic restoration. For example, this may be in preparation for orthodontic treatment, where ceramic plates are the final stage of treatment.

Caring for composite restorations is no different from caring for the oral cavity. But with professional hygiene, the photopolymer must be polished.
